Support Workers will be paid between £8.21 per hour up to £8.55 per hour from 1st April 2019.Welshpool Support Worker
As a support worker in this area, you will work with individuals that have a variety of needs. 3 people are very active and independent and like to fully involved in the support they receive. One man who lives alone is also very active but requires more consistent approaches to the support he receives. There is a home that is shared by 3 individuals that have a range of complex physical, sensory and challenging behaviours and there is a home where 2 men need intensive interaction and sensory support.
All these houses are in Welshpool or the surrounding area. You may be required to support people in their wheelchair at times, or to walk for long periods of time and so this would suit someone with a basic level of fitness. In this role, you will support individuals to develop skills in aspects of daily living such as cooking, cleaning and shopping. You will also help people to engage in work, social and leisure activities in the community, which might include volunteering, meeting friends, going to football or evenings in the cinema. You will also find that you will need to think creatively to engage people that will challenge normal support work and you may need to deliver support outcomes in a more sensory capacity. Your manager will work alongside you to help develop your practice, gain an understanding of everyone you work with, and create positive person-centred solutions which enable individuals to live fulfilled day to day lives.Next Steps
